New England Baked Beans

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups Great Northern Beans (soak overnight)
  • 3 large onion, roughly diced
  • ½ pound bacon, cut into squares
  • 1 quart cider vinegar
  • 1 quart molasses
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp chopped garlic
  • 4 Tbsp dried mustard powder
  • 2 Tbsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp celery seed
  • 1 Tbsp mustard seed
  • 1 Tbsp black pepper
  • 1 ½ cup dark brown sugar

Method:

Cook beans in water until tender, about 1 hour. Drain the beans.
In a large baking dish, mix beans with the remaining ingredients. Bake at 350 for 7 hours.
